REFLECTION

In the previous articles we have dealt with some of the different topics of the report Approaching the Future. These ones are "Working Conditions", "Activism" and "The Future of the Fashion Industry". To finish talking about these topics, in this article we will make a summary of them.

The first articles are examples of how bad working conditions are in the fashion industry. This makes society distrust organizations, at the global level only half of the population trusts them. It is obvious that with the issue of working conditions, society is going to reject the companies behind all this. For this reason, the transparency of ethics is a growing expectation for them.

This mistrust affects the political area, institutions and companies with their brands. This is why values like integrity, purpose and credibility are more important than others like competitiveness. However, there are currently not many organizations concerned about this trend because they see more important other.

One of the following topics we discussed was growing activism, a contradictory consumption. Society is changing and we are facing one that is willing to change its consumption habits to reduce its environmental impact and this is because there is more awareness of climate change. Nevertheless, there is a majority that gives more importance to traditional aspects when buying.

This is a contradiction between the aspirations of society and their actual actions. Because of that, organizations are adapting to consumers demand in relation to this trend. For this, it is important to deal with innovation with value solutions to social needs and competitive capabilities.

The last of the topics discussed is the future of the fashion industry as well as technology and transparency and the transition to the future of work. In terms of transparency in the product value chain, society demands more information but only a third of European companies carry out processes that consider human rights and the environment. For society, the trend of traceability is very important and is due to the growing distrust towards companies but for them it is a topic without relevance.

Finally, the future of work in this sector is in total transformation companies are adapting to the processes and business models for their total integration. The combination of the evolution of technology and the social context is a new era for employment.
