Through our blog, we have been able to understand more deeply and put into practice the concepts learned and set out in the Approaching the Future 2020 report. To this end, we have dealt with different topics in the fashion industry, relating them to the report.

Firstly, we talked about working conditions in the fashion industry ('Social expectations in the uncertain times'), in which we presented different actions that the big brands in the sector carry out with their factory workers around the world. These inhuman conditions have given rise to a high level of activism ('Growing activism, contradictory consumption') around the world, especially in the West, where they are trying to publicise what is happening in the countries where the brands have their factories. For this reason, in our articles we presented different associations that lead the activist movement to achieve better conditions for workers in the fashion industry.

We find ourselves at a time of change and the rise of technology, which is why the future of the fashion industry, in terms of transparency, is closer than ever ('Technology and transparency: challenges for the value chain' and 'Transitioning to the future of work and the workplace'). These changes and the growing activism have led to a change in the consumption model in the fashion sector ('Redesigning capitalism in the age of purpose' and 'Committed brands, brands that stand out'). For this reason, brands have shown the need to adapt to the values of today's society, such as sustainability ('2030: The Decade of Action', 'From global warming to climate emergency' and 'Responsible investment for a more sustainable future'). All these changes have meant that the fashion industry, especially the luxury brands, have had to adapt to the new generations through communication (“Managing reputation in the age of the algorithm”).

Lastly, we have the chance to interview María Macía Vicente, who gave us a more realistic view of the industry and its future from the inside.
